Crab Dip

This recipe comes from PapaChef’s Mom.  It is great served with Triscuits and Wheat Thins. Always a big hit!  Something about the layers….the creamy bottom and how all the flavors work together.

11 oz. Cream cheese

2 T Worcestershire sauce

2 T mayonnaise

1 T lemon juice

1 medium onion, chopped VERY fine, or grated

1 small jar chili sauce

1/2 of one container fresh flaked pure white crab meat (it’s expensive–except to pay $18 to $20)

several tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Let cream cheese sit on counter until room temperature.  Using a hand mixer, combine everything except chili sauce and crab.  Spread this base on a pretty tray.  Pour a bottle of “Mom’s Homemade” chili sauce over the base.  You find it by the ketchup in a little round glass bottle.  Then crumble the canned pure white meat crab over the chili sauce.  Sprinkle chopped parsley over that.

We purchase the flaked crab from the gourmet refrigerated section of either Sam’s Club or Costco.  One container will make 2 large platters of dip.  If you can’t find this kind, high quality canned crab will also work.
